Il futuro plurale. Considerazioni sparse sul museo nella sua terza età

Aurora Di Mauro

Faced with the prevailing prospect that the future of Italian museums is linked to a predominantly digital use, the author proposes a seemingly decentralized vision of the museum’s fate. Retracing a history that starts from the nineties of the twentieth century, when there was a lively ferment between different institutions to develop a culture of quality in the offer of cultural services throughout Italy, in this contribution we propose to look at those historical data to resume the idea of a museum that not only closes for use in historic centers but opens up on the outskirts. A way, this, to usefully combine the commitment to urban redevelopment from the social and cultural point of view of the cities’ margins with museum regeneration in the contemporary age.
